Wichtel-O-Mat FAQ
Access and accounts
Why does the site say my email address is already taken?
Your organizer account from a previous party probably still exists. We delete party and participant data 30 days after the draw. Your organizer account stays open until you delete it in your settings.
Sign in with your existing account to create a new party. If you've forgotten your password, reset your password.
Link to this questionI've forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
Reset your password to regain access to your organizer account.
Only organizers need a password. Participants access their party through the personal link in their invitation email.

To delete your organizer account:
- Sign in on the home page.
- Click the round list button at the top right of the party overview to see all your parties.
- Click the round button with the pointed hat to open your profile, then click the button to delete your account.
If you're a participant, we automatically delete the party and your participant data after 120 days of inactivity or 30 days after the draw. This deletion is permanent. Organizer accounts stay open until you delete them using the steps above.

Can I run a party with an odd number of participants?
Yes. If A draws B, B can draw C, and C can draw A. Participants don't need to form pairs.
You need at least three participants for a draw. Any exclusions you set must still leave a possible match for everyone.
Link to this questionWhy can't I start the draw even though three or more participants have accepted?
If you've enabled shipping addresses, every confirmed participant must enter an address before you can start the draw.
Check that at least three participants appear in green in the list. To accept an invitation, each participant must click the large round button with the check mark before clicking "ok".
Link to this questionMy invitation link shows a warning about possible manipulation. Why?
This can happen if an organizer is still signed in when a participant opens an invitation link in the same browser.
Ask the organizer to sign out using the round power button at the top right, then open the link again. You can also open it in another browser.

Link to this questionCan I create multiple exclusions for one participant?
Not yet. We plan to allow multiple exclusions per participant in the next major update.

Do I need to provide payment or credit card details?
No. We never ask for payment or credit card details to use Wichtel-O-Mat.
If a form asks for them, check that the address bar still shows www.wichtel-o-mat.de. A misleading ad may have taken you to another website.

No. We use your email address only to send messages about your parties, as described in our privacy policy. We never sell it to other companies or use it for advertising.

Why are there so many ads?
Ads help us keep Wichtel-O-Mat free. Google currently places them automatically.
We want to show fewer ads or make them less intrusive as part of the next update. Please bear with us until then.
Link to this questionWhen will the new version be available?
We're building the update alongside our full-time jobs, and it's taking longer than we'd hoped.
We need to release it just after the Secret Santa season to avoid disrupting parties in progress. Our new target is mid-2027.
